Way to go...

So France is going to put forward a motion in the UN that would ban discrimination based on sexual orientation. Cuz, you know, being gay can get you killed in a lot of countries (not just, like, at night in the streets--we're talking about state executions here). Despite what you feel personally about homosexuality, I think most people can agree that it doesn't deserve a death sentence. Cool, right?
Wrong.
The Vatican, in it's divine wisdom, is against the measure. Apparently, if the document were ratified, that might get some countries to allow gay marriage. According to the Pope, that is far too high a price to pay to protect LGBT people from discrimination.
